Detour is a publishing house and platform based in the Netherlands led by Jesse Muller and Natasha Rijkhoff. Detour works together for and with (inter)national artists, (academic) researchers, designers, poets, writers, thinkers/philosophers and makers.

As Detour we make books and other printed matter, as well as providing a platform for events and dialogue. Detour focuses on topics and collaborations with a sense of urgency, depth and the poetic, thereby providing a platform for what could be considered niche or non-commercial. Within Detour we will act as makers, collaborators and connectors between the author and the public, working with and for our community and network. We want to maintain the physicality of thought and experiment and the spreading of ideas by people whose views deviate from (or even outstrip) the status quo within a rapidly changing world. Detour will do this by publishing books and providing a platform; utilising and spreading the knowledge, skills and passion we’ve gained for and in publishing over the last years. Our output will reach a community of thinkers, students, professionals and the uninitiated within the fields of the arts, design, literature and (social & political) science. By publishing and organising both on a national and an international scale, our projects expandm visibility and create connections to and with peers and the public.
